Call for Papers, Panels, and Roundtables

This notification is the call for paper, panel, and roundtable proposals for the 2025 conference of the Arkansas Political Science Association. The Arkansas Political Science Association is a professional association of university and secondary school political scientists and other related fields (history, geography, sociology, psychology, emergency management, etc.), graduate and undergraduate students, practitioners, and other professionals in the scientific study of government and political behavior. The Arkansas Political Science Association also publishes a refereed journal: The Midsouth Political Science Review.

The first quarter of the 21st century continues to be a volatile political time and 2024 has been no different. Globally, Russia continues to wage war against the Ukraine in Eastern Europe while Israel and the Palestinians continue to battle over control of the Gaza strip in the Middle East. Domestically, a former president faces multiple lawsuits, while campaigning to reclaim the presidency. Then, the sitting president took the unprecedent action of withdrawing his bid for reelection late in the presidential campaign race. The Supreme Court has made significant rulings throughout the year, including immunity for former presidents. Finally, there have been a series of natural disasters, most notably hurricanes Helene and Milton. Now more than ever the study of politics is needed to navigate these volatile political times by providing insights in all subfields of political science. Thus, the Arkansas Political Science Association invites paper, panel and roundtable submissions for all subfields of political science from scholars in political science and related fields, graduate and undergraduate students of political science and practitioners and professionals studying politics.

All proposals should be e-mailed to the appropriate section head (see list below) and include the following:

  • Type of Proposal (paper, panel, roundtable)
  • An Abstract (approximately 250 words or less)
  • Title of Submission
  • Name, position, and institutional affiliation
  • Mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address

The Arkansas Political Science Association is also seeking panel and roundtable chairs and discussants. E-mail the section chairs or the program chair directly to volunteer, listing your areas of expertise.
