48th Annual Meeting, February 25-26, 2021

Call for Papers

Conference Dates: February 25-26, 2021

Program Chair: Dr. Williams Yamkam, williams.yamkam@uafs.edu

Conference Host:  Virtual through University of Arkansas at Fort Smith

Theme: An Unnatural State of Affairs: Governing in Uncertain Times

The COVID-19 pandemic and other social protests seem to have caused many political, social, economic, and international disruptions. As a consequence, local, state, federal, and international governing entities were compelled to make necessary adjustments to try and address those disruptions. How has the Natural State fared in dealing with this new situation? What if anything can the Natural State learn from history, from other states, from the federal government, and from other countries on how to best govern in uncertain times?

The association invites submissions of proposals of posters, papers, panels, and roundtables related (and unrelated) to the theme from scholars and students of Political Science and related disciplines. All proposals should include the information requested under the “Proposals Submission” sub-heading below. If you are uncertain about the placement of the proposal, please contact the Program Chair for clarification on the appropriate section. Individuals willing to serve as Panel Chairs or Discussants should send such requests to the appropriate Section Chair.

Please e-mail proposals to the appropriate section chairs (see below) with the following information by the deadline of Sunday, December 13th:

  • Type of Proposal (paper, panel, roundtable)
  • An Abstract Title of Submission
